John McCain was a Communist Collaborator

If John McCain wants to use the fact that he was a POW for political advantage, it is only fair that people know the truth about John McCain's days as a POW.

The fact was, while other POWs were tortured, John McCain gave away military information, made anti-war broadcasts, and even granted an interview, to get special medical treatment.

When Col. Bui Tin, who had actually interrogated John McCain, testified in Congress before the POW/MIA affairs committee, John McCain embraced him!

Moreover, as a Senator he has been the most antagonistic of POW/MIA activists.

Fox refers to Michelle Obama as "Obama's baby mama"

I read about this on DailyKos that Fox was referring to Michelle Obama as "Obama's baby mama", which is slang for an unmarried mother of one's child.

It's beyond outrageous. How can they get away with this?

Senator Hagel (R-NE) takes Bush to task

Hastert Quitting

I just saw on MSNBC that Hastert (R-Ill) is quitting - he is not going to even finish his term, according to the report, which means that there should be a special election coming in early 2008.

This could be a possible pickup opportunity. I live in the neighboring district (Judy Biggert is my Congresswoman). The area has traditionally been a Republican stronghold, but is trending more and more Democratic every year.

Anyone else from the area have any thoughts?

An Observation about Executive Privilege

There is NO constitutional or statutory basis for the executive privilege. You can read the constitution from beginning to end and every statute ever passed by Congress and you will not find it anywhere!

The basis for the statutory privilege rests on two arguments:
(a) the constitution creates separate branches of government, and separate branches of government implies executive privilege; and
(b) the interests of allowing the executive branch to have candid deliberations.

and Supreme Court rulings that have recognized it in very narrow and limited circumstances. See for example, U.S. v. Nixon. Regardless whether one agrees with these rationale, it has to be remembered that a court's role is to interpret the law not make the law. Thus, there is a term that describes for what the Bush Administration is asking the courts to do - Judicial Activism.

Don't Swiftboat Rudy, Willie Horten him

OK Kiddies, do you guys want to WIN in 2008?

Here's how you really hit Rudy. He was a former federal prosecutor. What do prosecutors do with a high number of their cases? They plea bargain.

Find a defendant that he plea bargained and gave probation or a short prison term (doesn't matter what the crime was) that subsequently committed a terrible crime (preferrably a sex crime). Then claim that Rudy advocates probation for pedophiles.

what the Dems should do in FL-13

it seems that Jeb Bush has no interest in conducting a fair election and has appointed a partisan hack to audit the voting machines. since the final trier of election disputes is the House, and the republicans can't run a fair election - the dems should refuse to inaugurate the Republican and declare the Democrat, Jennings the winner.

6 Muslim Imams Removed from Plane

6 men were removed from a US Airways flight. It appears that the only thing that they were doing was praying before a flight.

Read this story:

Now look at the reactions http://blogs.usatoday.com/ondeadline/200 6/11/calls_for_boyco.html

I am truly amazed by the reactions - overwhelmingly supporting the airlines. From a freeper, it wouldn't surprise me. But given how overwhelming the support for the airlines is, it sounds like there have to be some of our political persuasion who support this as well. That is what is troubling to me.

Isn't stuff like this precisely what our country is not about?!
